Research & Development
This is an integral part of our Teaching School Alliance work and we are keen to promote practitioner based research on our partnership of schools. To this end we have funded a number of R&D bursaries so that colleagues in our schools can find the time and resources to carry out this work. We have a number of case studies of projects from last year and are hoping for another round of high quality submissions in the future.
In addition to our own alliance based research we are also involved in a number of wider National College research projects involving topics such as Assessment, Closing the Gap and Early Intervention in schools. All of these projects involve and are often led by some of our partner schools with funding provided by the college to create capacity for this work to be carried out and more importantly to have the impact of this work on our students evaluated.
Closing the Gap: Test and learn.
We are involved in a national research project in partnership with two of our alliance schools; Charlton School and Ercall Wood. The schools will be researching the impact of Achievement for All and Inference Training on the attainment of our students, when compared to interventions already being delivered. This will be evaluated by the University of Oxford and the National College, with the findings published as part of this national project.

Primary National Curriculum funding
We have secured £20,000 to support the development and implantation of the new Primary National Curriculum in over 20 Primary schools across Shropshire. This will support the creation of high quality resources as well as the on-going development of our colleagues in the Primary sector; ultimately impacting on sustaining high quality teaching and learning in their classrooms.

Early Intervention Grant
HMI will be leading this project for us, using the funding secured by the teaching school alliance. They will be working on the production of a tool kit which highlights the risk factors which may trigger intervention in schools who are in danger of falling below their performance targets.
Assessment policy research
This piece of work will be lead by two of our partner schools; Church Stretton and The Marches School, Oswestry who will be using the funding we have secured to research effective assessment practice with relation to the changing national agenda in secondary schools.
HLC in Telford and Wrekin are producing some very exciting resources and training for teachers of autistic and Aspergers children within a mainstream setting. They have developed a Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin hub of experts who will disseminate the resources produced through their collaborative research made possible through this grant.
