We are pleased to announce the following courses delivered by the Salop Teaching School Alliance have been accredited by the University of Chester:

Teacher Enrichment Programme

Secondary Phase

Our Specialist Leaders in Education deliver the Teacher Enrichment Programme and have put their feedback on the course below:

The ‘Teacher Enrichment Programme’ has been designed to allow teachers time, outside of their usual work setting, to reflect on their own practice and revisit some of the core teaching and learning principals that are covered in training. When designing the TEP, we did not want to create a course that offered new, innovative approaches that were going to create an increased workload for the delegates. Instead, we wanted to focus on ‘doing the simple things well’ to rejuvenate or enhance the passion the delegates had for teaching when they initially started their training which may have been lost in the day-to-day hectic lifestyle of a teacher. The TEP encourages delegates to reflect on what they already know, unpick what works well for them and re-focus their attention within their classroom practice on improving specifically targeted areas.

When contemplating the delivery of the TEP, we wanted to establish a relaxed environment which allowed delegates to feel comfortable communicating with us and sharing any issues that they had. It was also important for us that they shared their successes and this is a key focus at the beginning of each session. Where things do not go as planned, ample discussion time is given to allow delegates to find solutions.

Delivery of this course has allowed us as facilitators to craft our mentoring and coaching skills and to continue our own professional development. It is important for us to see the wider picture of education, rather than just the picture in our own school; working with teachers from a variety of settings allows us to broaden our view and understanding of the profession as a whole.

The Priory School was awarded Teaching School status from September 2012. Teaching schools play a leading role in the training and professional development of teachers, support staff and headteachers, as well as contributing to the raising of standards through school-to-school support.

Collaboration is at the heart of the teaching school model. All teaching schools will be expected to work with a number of schools and other strategic partners to form a teaching school alliance.

Our Vision

We firmly believe that we are ‘stronger together’ and that partnership and collaboration between practicing teachers in different schools is the only way to continually develop and improve teaching and learning for the benefit of students, parents and the communities in which we work.
