This programme is for recently qualified teachers from Primary or Secondary Phase who wish to further support their professional development with a key focus on continuing to develop as an outstanding classroom practitioner in the first few years after NQT qualification. The course combines face to face training and independent learning. This programme is open to all recently qualified teachers who wish to build upon the progress they have made in their NQT year in order to deliver consistently good and outstanding lessons. The course is accredited by The University of Chester. Students completing the required work at level 7 can gain 20 credits towards an MA in Educational Practice.

Course Content & Objectives
· Module 1 - What does outstanding teaching look like? Is there a formula for success?
Objectives: Explore key features of effective lesson structure leading to an outstanding lesson
· Module 2 - Behaviour Management - Angels are not born, they’re cultivated
Objectives: Identify barriers to learning, develop strategies, build on positive behaviour
· Module 3 - Improving Personal effectiveness
Objectives: Manage workload effectively, develop leadership skills
· Module 4 - Assessment for Learning - effective oral work
Objectives: understand Bloom’s taxonomy to help differentiate questioning, reflect on your practice
· Module 5 - Gifted & Talented - deep learning—just for the Gifted & Talented?
Objectives: explore ideas to support effective learning, consider how current teaching supports the principle assessment objects at GCSE
· Module 6 - Writing a module of work—putting it all together
Objectives: extend thinking for planning progression, reflect and evaluate
